One injured in fire at Waterloo recycling plant

An employee of a Waterloo recycling business had to be treated for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out on Monday morning.

Waterloo firefighters were called to Cedar Valley Recycling at 1920 Water Street at around 7:45 a.m. Monday.

Firefighters say a tractor may have sparked the fire in a pile of cardboard.

Crews had to use heavy equipment to get into the pile of cardboard to reach the heart of the fire.
