CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Fire crews say discarded smoking materials caused a fire that damaged part of Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids on Sunday.

Firefighters got the call around 10:30 a.m. of a fire in a trash bin in the parkade area with smoke reported inside the building.

Smoke was coming from the third floor of the parkade on the Eighth Street side.

Firefighters also discovered flames coming from a ceiling area of the skywalk.

No one was hurt.
