Emergency Management Agency holds preparedness fair in Waterloo

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The Black Hawk County Emergency Management Agency is encouraging people to start thinking about their emergency plan.

On Saturday, the Agency held their Emergency Preparedness Fair 2013 at the Crossroads Center in Waterloo.

There was plenty of safety information including disaster preparedness for seniors, pet owners and what needs to be included in an emergency supply bag.

"This fair is for anyone who wants to be prepared during times of disaster, whether you're caring for children, whether you're elderly, whether you have pets ... what types of foods to keep in your home to be ready for disasters," said Lorie Glover, Emergency Management Coordinator.

"The more people are prepared for disasters, the less people are dependent on our emergency services when a disaster happens," Glover added.

Waterloo Police was also on hand to take fingerprints and DNA samples of kids for parents to have in a case of an emergency.

This was the second Emergency Preparedness Fair in Waterloo. The first was in 2006.
