WAVERLY (KWWL) -

Missy Davis has been appointed as the new Bremer County Recorder.

She replaces long-time recorder Donna Ellison who was arrested last month for misusing funds.

Investigators believe Ellison stole more than $500.

Davis has worked under Ellison at the Bremer County Recorder's Office for almost 15 years.

"I always thought Donna was going to be my boss, but after I talked with my husband about it I thought I would put in my application since the position was open," said Davis.

Davis said she interviewed for the position along with one other candidate before she was appointed to the position.

"I'm excited and honored, and I'm going to do my best to serve the citizens of Bremer County," she said.
