Cedar Rapids firefighters battle morning house fire

Cedar Rapids firefighters battled a house fire at 1803 B Avenue NE Thursday morning.

Assistant Fire Chief Greg Smith says crews were called to the home at 6:15 a.m. Thursday after someone reported smoke coming from the house.

Firefighters arrived and quickly put out a fire on the second floor of the home.

No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries to firefighters, according to Smith.

The home is owned by someone from Des Moines, officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
