Pit bull shot by Allamakee County deputy during drug bust

The Allamakee County Sheriff's Department says that a pit bull has been shot by a deputy during a narcotics search.

A search warrant was served at 546 Bethlehem Drive on March 20 around 2:30 p.m.

The sheriff's office says a male suspect tried to escape the home. That's when a pit bull allegedly attacked the deputy, and the deputy shot and killed the dog.

The deputy was uninjured.

The sheriff's office confiscated marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and items consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamines.

Cody and Melissa Brown of Brandon were arrested. Cody was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of precursors, and failure to affix a drug tax stamp. Melissa was arrested on an outstanding warrant and transferred to the Buchanan County Jail.
