The chairman of the Iowa GOP announced on Tuesday that Kentucky Senator Rand Paul will headline the Lincoln Dinner in Cedar Rapids on May 10.
Iowa GOP Chairman A.J. Spiker says Paul will be the featured speaker at the dinner which will be held on May 10 at the Hotel at Kirkwood Center.
Paul, who the Iowa Republican Party says is rumored to be eyeing a run for President, got a lot of attention earlier this month on the Senate floor.
"Senator Rand Paul's 13 hour filibuster earlier this month caught the attention of Republicans across the nation who are seeking GOP leaders who will stand up to Barack Obama." Spiker said in a written statement. "As the ‘First in the Nation' state, we immediately extended an invite to Senator Paul to allow him to introduce himself to Iowa Republicans."
The appearance of Rand Paul, who is rumored to be mulling a run for President, is the latest in a long line of political leaders the Iowa GOP has hosted during Spiker's leadership of the party.
Doors will open at 6:00 p.m., with dinner and program happening from 7-8 p.m. Individuals tickets are available for $50. To reserve tickets, call the Iowa GOP office at 515.282.8105 or buy them online at www.IowaGOP.org.
More details will be released closer to the event.
