Hawkeyes accept NIT bid

Sunday night turned out pretty much as expected when Iowa's name wasn't called to participate in the NCAA tournament.  Three hours later, the Hawkeyes accepted a bid as a 3 seed in the NIT.

Iowa will host Indiana State in the opening round on Wednesday.

"It's just a tremendous opportunity, phenomenal field," said coach Fran McCaffery, "You watch those names come up and you think you're watching the NCAA bracket.  It just goes to show you how many great teams there are, how many great college basketball players there are."

It's definitely a good thing for us being able to keep playing," said junior forward Devyn Marble, "That's always an honor, and a blessing.  Just looking forward to it really making sure we stay focused and taking care of business."

Game time Wednesday is set for 6 PM in Carver Hawkeye Arena.
