A fire in Cedar Rapids Wednesday morning has injured one person. Rescuers were dispatched to 264 Boice Road NW just after 10:30 a.m.
Authorities say 51-year-old Kenlyn Hecht was treated by paramedics on the scene before being taken to Mercy Medical Center for observation after inhaling smoke. Three other people were inside the residence at the time of the fire including Judith Rehbehen, age 72 and two children. All three made it out of the home safely.
Firefighters kept fire damage to a bedroom, and also cut holes in the roof to allow heated smoke and gases to escape. There was smoke damage throughout the structure.
The family is being helped by the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
