NORTH LIBERTY (KWWL) -

Three North Liberty police officers were shot and injured during a domestic call Sunday and the alleged shooter is dead.

North Liberty Police responded to a domestic disturbance Sunday night, which quickly escalated into something more.

Upon entering the mobile home on the 200 block of Holiday Lodge Road, gunshots were fired between officers and suspect Taleb Hussein Yousef Salameh, 28.

Salameh died on the scene. The female involved in the domestic disturbance was not injured.

Three officers were injured, but have since been released from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The names of the officers are not being released.

The officers have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure during a shooting investigation.

A deputy state medical examiner will conduct an autopsy on Salameh. The investigation is ongoing.

Johnson County Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek says North Liberty Police responded to a domestic violence call just before 6 p.m. on Sunday evening and were greeted with gunshots.

Some residents say they were evacuated from their homes and others say they were told to stay inside.

Authorities did not term the situation a standoff, however.

"I don't know that it was long enough to become a standoff," said Pulkrabek. "I think it was a very instantaneous-type situation that escalated extremely quickly."
