Local girls find dresses at Project Prom

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

While spring break is prominent in the minds of so many high school students this time of year, March also means prom dress shopping is in peak season.

In Iowa City, girls are getting some help with their dress selection through East Side Recycling Center's Project Prom.

Saturday, they could browse through over 150 prom dresses and accessories that have been donated.

And best of all, all of it is free of charge.

"Its an effort to not only keep clothes out of the landfill but to get it to girls that otherwise would not have nice prom dresses," said Jen Jordan, Iowa City Recycling Coordinator.

About 25 girls showed up Saturday, but because of the large amount of dresses donated, Project Prom is extending its days to Tuesday March 12 and Saturday March 16.
