CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -
For the first time in its history, the University of Northern Iowa Dance Team has placed in the top five teams at one of the most prestigious college cheerleading and dance competitions in the nation.
The UNI Dance Team placed fourth in the nation in Division I for their jazz routine and pom routine at the Universal Dance Association Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship in Orlando, Fla.
It is the first time the team has placed in the top five at that competition in both pop and jazz routines, said Megan Wolcott, the UNI Dance Team adviser.
"This is a great accomplishment for the program," she said in a release Thursday. "I am excited to see how this motivates the future dance team members."
Wolcott noted the UNI Dance Team would hold tryouts for the team April 12-14. More information and registration for tryouts can be found here.
