Four-year-old Fairbank child hurt after hitting truck

A four-year-old from rural Fairbank was injured after running into a truck on Wednesday afternoon.

Michelle Kremer of Fairbank was driving south in the 1000 block of Fairbank Amish Road at around 4:05 p.m. Wednesday when 4-year-old Edna Raber ran into the roadway and hit the side of the Ford F150 truck, according to the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office.

Raber was taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein before being airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

Raber's condition has not been released.

Deputies say other children were standing alongside the road at the time, but no one else was injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
