Asbury man sentenced in shooting case

An Asbury man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for allegedly shooting his father.

Our coverage partners at the Dubuque Telegraph Herald report that 32-year old Anthony Podnar was sentenced Monday.

Anthony podnar was accused of shooting his father, Adam Podnar in the abdomen in January 2012.

Under a plea deal, Podnar pleaded guilty to wilful injury while armed with a weapon. He also pleaded guilty to charges of going armed with intent and reckless use of a firearm.

According to court records, Adam and Anthony were in an argument on the night of January 12, 2012 when Anthony shot his father with a rifle. 

Adam eventually made his way to a Casey's store where he reported his injury.
