Dance Marathon Baby is born

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

An Iowa City infant has been named the official UNI Dance Marathon baby.

Landon Francis Lowe is the son of the UNI Dance Marathon Director of Operations Dylan Lowe and his wife, Jackie.

Lowe got a call that Jackie was going into labor on Saturday several hours before the UNI Dance Marathon. Lowe rushed to Iowa City, and while Lowe's comrades danced for the University of Iowa's Children Hospital, Lowe's son was born at the UI Hospital.

"It… definitely changed my perspective a little bit. Especially when he came out, my son came out… and he was having a little trouble breathing-nothing too serious, but they took him back to the NICU for a couple of hours to make sure he was gonna be doing ok, and we weren't ever too worried, but it gave us just a little taste of what some people go through with sick kids and everything… it gave me a better appreciation for what all those families go through that we're raising money to support," Dylan Lowe said.

UNI's Dance Marathon raised $101,379 for the cause.

Before heading back to the marathon in Cedar Falls, Lowe snapped a picture of Landon in his first outfit, an oversized Dance Marathon T-shirt. The picture was an online hit, and the head of the Dance Marathon approached the Lowe's about making Landon the "official DM baby".

Now you can follow Landon on Twitter @CMN_Baby.
