Hundreds compete in the Special Olympics in Cedar Falls

The UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls today was home to hundreds of Special Olympians giving their all in different events. It's all part of the Northeast Iowa Spring Games. Special Olympians from across the area competed in the Dome. They all compete with the Special Olympics oath - "Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.

"We started out the day with our field events, which we do softball throw, shot put, long jumps, and then we move to track, and in our track events, we do everything from 25 meters to 800 meters", said Joe Wilson, Area Director.

This Area Special Olympics Event has been held in the UNI-Dome since 1990. More than 300 athletes signed up to compete in this years games. KWWL's own Ron Steele was the MC for the area Special Olympics Ceremonies.
