Sundown ski shot attempt breaks record

DUBUQUE COUNTY (KWWL) -

Hundreds of skis were in use Saturday at the Sundown Mountain Ski Resort in Dubuque, but not for skiing.

They were used to help break the record for the number of people taking shots off of a ski.

More than 350 people lined up side by side holding some 600 feet of skis taped together with shot glasses lining the top.

The challenge? Everyone has to lift the skis at the same time.

This event shattered the old world record set in Breckenridge, Colorado, where only 150 people took part.

"I'd say it's a big success, we were hoping for 315 feet and we ended up having 655 plus," said Stephanie Grutz, in charge of social media and marketing for the event.

The $2,000 raised will be donated to the Special Olympics.

The event will be submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records.
