Two million and two hundred fifty thousand dollars.
That's how much the two sides in the Linn County casino vote have spent trying to persuade voters leading up to the March 5 vote.
Campaign spending reports filed Thursday afternoon with the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board show the "yes" campaign outspent the "no" campaign two-to-one.
Reports show "Vote Yes Linn County" spent $1,483,314.79, while "Just Say No Casino" spent $727,977.65.
Investors from Steve Gray's Cedar Rapids Development Group poured in more than $1.5 million in contributions to "Vote Yes." The filed report shows "Vote Yes" still has more than $120,000 in unpaid bills.
Meanwhile, "Just Say No" received just over $750,000 in contributions, $600,000 of which came from the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort, and $150,000 of which came from the Isle Casino and Hotel in Waterloo.
Most of the money has been spent on local television ads.
