Synthetic drug education event planned

ANAMOSA (KWWL) -

Synthetic drugs continue to be an issue for law enforcement agencies, as many dangerous substances are still legal and easy to get.  (See our report:  Synthetic High.)

The Jones County Safe and Healthy Youth Coalition wants to educate families about the dangers of these substances.  Tuesday, March 12, the coalition will sponsor an event featuring Mike and Jan Rozga.  The Rozgas are parents from Indianola who lost their son from a synthetic drug overdose two years ago, prompting an emergency ban of K2 in Iowa.

The event will is free and open to the public.  It's being held from 6-8 p.m. on March 12 at the new Jones County Youth Development Center, 800 N. Maple in Monticello (Fairgrounds).  The snow date for the event is March 14.

If you'd like to attend, you're encouraged to RSVP by March 5 to contactus@jonescountycoalition.org.  Dinner and childcare accommodations will be provided.
