Cascade edges by Bondurant-Farrar in opener

DES MOINES (KWWL) -

Defense was the name of the game as 4th ranked Cascade edged past #5 Bondurant-Farrar 33-26 to open the class 3A state tournament.

The Cougars held Bondurant-Farrar at one point for more than 25 minutes without a basket.  B-F shot just 19% from the floor.  However, it hasn't been unusual for Cascade to clamp down on teams, their opponents averaged less than 28 points per game this season.

Offensively, the Cougars didn't put a single player in to double digits.  Abby Meyer led the way with 9 points, all of them coming from the free throw line.

Cascade (23-2) will meet Davenport Assumption (23-2) in Thursday's semifinal round.
