Rosa Parks postage stamp unveiled

Civil rights icon, Rosa Parks,  is the new face of a postage stamp in honor of Black History Month.

The Waterloo post office unveiled a Rosa Parks Forever stamp Tuesday.

The stamp is the first of three being released this year to recognize African American achievements in American history.

Waterloo postmaster June Martindale said, "She did something very extraordinary. I've read several of her quotes and stuff about her especially recently and what a wonderful thing, somebody ordinary that stood up for something they believed in and made a mark in history."

Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man on a city bus in Montgomery, Alabama on December 1, 1955.

This act is often viewed as one of the most important sparks to cultivate the Civil Rights Movement.
