CLEAR LAKE (KWWL) -
A driver and a passenger were able to climb out of their truck after breaking through the ice on Clear Lake during the early morning hours Tuesday.
Matthew Curry, 38, of Mason City, and an unidentified female passenger climbed out of the truck after it broke through the ice approximately 40 feet from the boat ramp at the downtown seawall shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
Curry and the passenger were uninjured, according to reports.
The front of the 1994 Chevrolet pickup was submerged, with the back end sticking up from the surface of the water, according to the DNR. The truck was pulled from the water Tuesday morning.
The DNR reminded people to use extreme caution due to inconsistent weather patterns and ice formation this year.
