CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -
The Waverly-Shell Rock boys will be making the trip to Des Moines for the third straight season after downing Clear Lake 65-55 in the McLeod Center on Monday.
Sophomore Jake Velky led the way with a 25 point effort. Senior Klinton Carlson added 14 in the Go-Hawk victory.
Waverly-Shell Rock led most of the contest but had to hold off several Clear Lake runs in the second half. The Lions, however, never got any closer than 4 points over the final 16 minutes.
The Go-Hawks received the #3 seed in the state tournament. They'll open up against 6th seeded Mount Pleasant in the opening round.
