It's anticipated seventy to eighty Waterloo school teachers may decide to accept the district's early retirement incentive package, approved Monday night by the Waterloo Board of Education.
The district needs to make three to five million dollars in budget cuts, so, the district sent early retirement eligibility letters to 115 teachers.
Waterloo Community Schools District spokesperson, Sharon miller, says the package includes an offer of 30-thousand dollars, plus a reimbursement for some unused sick time. The money would be paid over a three-year period.
Eligible Waterloo teachers have until March 15 to accept or reject the early retirement offer.
