Former Waterloo hockey player injured during race

A former Waterloo Black Hawks hockey player turned NASCAR driver was injured during the Nationwide race at Daytona Saturday.

Des Moines native Michael Annett was hospitalized after an accident at the race.

Annett suffered serious chest and sternum injuries.

Another major wreck later during the Nationwide race injured at least 28 spectators when debris flew into the crowd.
