Bone marrow drives scheduled to help Waverly woman

Two bone marrow drives have been scheduled to help find a bone marrow match for a Waverly woman recently diagnosed with a blood cancer, Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.

Friends and family of Melody Eckstein will host two bone marrow drives to encourage people to sign up on the bone marrow registry, and potentially find a match for Eckstein.

Eckstein is currently receiving chemotherapy while waiting for a bone marrow transplant.

The first drive will be held on Wednesday, March 6th at 100 East Park Avenue, Suite 300, in Waterloo. It will run from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The second drive will also be held on Wednesday, March 6th at 300 East Bremer Avenue in Waverly from 4 - 7 p.m.

"It's only a matter of doing a cheek swab to see if somebody is a match," said Eckstein's daughter, Sara Frantum.
