CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -
Four years after the floods of 2008, Cedar Rapids opened the first of two new libraries to open this year.
There was a ribbon cutting this morning at the Ladd Library, a new facility on the city's west side.
The library is located on Williams Boulevard across the street from Westdale Mall. The mall was the temporary home for the library following the floods of 2008.
"What I love about this space is that first we have restrooms to offer the public," said Bob Pasicznyuk, Library Director. "Beyond the restrooms, it has a really roomy feel. You never feel tight in this space. It just has higher ceilings. It's bright it has natural light. It's a very convenient space for all our customers."
The new west side library is about 21,000 square feet.
There's also a new downtown library being built. It's expected to open this summer.
