WATERLOO (KWWL) -
More than $3 million will be distributed throughout the Cedar Valley in 2013. This is the fourth consecutive year the Cedar Valley United Way campaign topped three million. The 2012 campaign official total is $3,081,617.
On Thursday, donors celebrated during the annual 'Breakfast of Champions' event.
The money raised goes towards a number of organizations to help people right here in the Cedar Valley.
"On a typical year, we would support more than 90 programs in the Cedar Valley and they would all be in the areas of income and education and health support. And so there are about 45 organizations that work with us as partners to ensure that money gets in the hands of people that need it," said Sheila Baird, Cedar Valley United Way President
The co-chairs for the 2012 campaign were Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare President and CEO Jack Dusenbery and wife, Holly.
