Posted:

The man convicted for his role in his 18-month-old daughter's death will spend 50 years in prison.

Zyriah Schlitter heard his sentence Wednesday in Linn County court.

A jury found Schlitter guilty of involuntary man slaughter and child endangerment in December after his daughter Kamryn died of head injuries in 2010.

It's almost been three years now since the toddler's death.

Wednesday Schlitter heard his sentence in front of a packed courtroom.

Prosecutors asked the judge to recommend Schlitter serve at least 30 years before he was eligible for parole.

Ultimately the judge denied that request.

Schlitter gave a very brief statement when he was asked to address the court.

"I'm sorry everything had to happen this way. I miss my daughter, truly.  I know it's not over.  I'd like to say I'm grateful for all the support I have from family and friends."

Schlitter's friends and family saying words of encouragement, as he was escorted out of the courtroom

Schlitter's ex-girlfriend- Amy Parmer faces first degree murder and child endangerment charges in Kamryn's death.

She is set to go on trial in August.
