Gas prices spike 13 cents in past week


You're paying about 13 cents more per gallon at the gas pump than a week ago.

According to, average retail gasoline prices in Iowa have risen 13.1 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.71 per gallon on Sunday.

The price tracking website surveys 2,036 gas outlets in Iowa.

The average price of gas nationally has increased 11.9 cents per gallon in the last week, to $3.68 per gallon.

Including the change in gas prices in Iowa during the past week, prices on Sunday were 24.8 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago, and 58.5 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

The national average has increased 42.2 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 16.7 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
