Class 1-A's top wrestlers would go for a bid in the state finals early Friday evening,

Alburnett leading the team race would qualify 2 finalists -- including 113 pounder Hunter Washburn who eeked out a one point decision --

North Butler's Cody Nelson is still perfect after a 4, 3 decision over West Marshall's Tanner Arnold --

It's off to the 182 pound finals for Clarksville's Dalton Ciaverelli after a hard fought one point win at 182, --

Cade Jones of West Branch picked up a pin on East Buc junior Tyler Hoffman to move to finals night at 195 -- it was a feat matched by 39 and oh Daniel Gaffney of Iowa City Regina who took out Maq Valley's Ryan Parmely in the third period --

and it would take overtime for Aplington-Parkersburg's Brandon McCracken -- but a second OT escape was the difference as the Falcon senior is set for finals night --

Earlier in the class 2-A quarters -- West Delaware dominated -- at heavyweight Dean Broghammer moved to the semis with a quick pin -- while Patrick Woods managed the same at 106 -- the Hawks went a perfect seven and oh in the round.

A surprise at 120 -- where Charlie Jones of Columbus saw his hopes of a second straight title go away after a 7, 3 loss to Doug Miner of Spirit Lake Park --

Brandon Sorenson of Denver -- though -- was still on track after a pin at 145 -- he and teammate Chase Shedenhelm both reached the semis --

Logan Thomsen was one of four Union Knights to reach the semis after he picked up a 4, 3 decision at 152 --

Luke Johnson's major decision at 195 helped lead a pair of Charles City Comets to the semis --

While Leighton Gaul of New Hampton tech falled West Liberty's Elliott Hanson to keep his perfect record at 120
