Iowa leaders look at water cutbacks if drought lingers

Mandatory water cutbacks may be implemented this summer in parts of Iowa if the drought lingers.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the decision to cut back is best left to local communities instead of the state, because drought conditions vary from one part of state to the next.

Recent data says nearly a quarter of Iowa remains in severe or extreme drought.
