Galena man found not guilty in 2011 fatal boating accident


A Galena man accused of involuntary manslaughter has been found not guilty in a fatal boating accident.

Kent Hoffman was accused of killing 45-year-old James Sutton of Maquoketa when his boat went over the top of Sutton's boat.

The crash happened on the Mississippi River near Schmidt Harbor during September 2011.

The Telegraph Herald reports Hoffman was found not guilty on a count of involuntary manslaughter and operating a boat while intoxicated.
