EveryClassroom campaign funds reach $1.5 million in Iowa City

The Iowa City Community School District is continuing its effort to make everything in the classroom a little bit smarter, including the technology.

The Iowa City Community School District Foundation announced Tuesday that it has raised $1.5 million for its EveryClassroomcampaign.

The effort looks to put smart board technology into each of the districts classrooms.

Officials believe the move is necessary to keep up with the changing times.

"Every game they ever had, every toy they ever had has been interactive… so that's what comes natural to our kids, " says ICCSD Technology Campaign Manager, Susan Brennan.

Now,  the foundation is now looking to the public to raise an additional $500,000 to meet its goal.

The All Smart Board technology should be installed the end of next school year.
