CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The former Cedar Rapids Animal Control complex, which was damaged during the June 2008 flood, is set to be demolished.

The city announced on Tuesday that Active Thermal Concepts was awarded the $103,469 environmental abatement and demolition contract.

The complex, located at 1401 Cedar Bend Trail SW, will be demolished between February 13 and March 8.  The exact timing will be determined by weather and availability of equipment.

The demolition is being funded using Federal Emergency Management Agency funds.

The City of Cedar Rapids has demolished 1,084 homes, 539 accessory structures and 93 commercial buildings that were damaged in the floods of 2008.
