Linn County casino opponents hold barbeque, spread message

The March 5, 2013, special election in Linn County is getting closer.  There's just one question on the ballot, which asks voters if gambling at a casino should be allowed in the county.

Early voting is already underway and the intensity of both sides to get their messages out for or against a casino will only ramp up as we get closer to election day.

The Just Say No Casino group held a barbeque Sunday. It's a play off their "Where's the Beef?" commercial which asks the casino's backers to tell the community more details about the proposed casino.

"We still have so many questions that have yet to be answered," said Todd Henderson, Just Say No Casino Spokesperson. "Where is this casino going to be built? Who's going to run it? What does the entire list of investors look like? What is the cost going to be to the taxpayer? We just don't know."

The event had live music and was open to people of all ages. Casino opponents say Linn County needs more family-friendly events instead of gambling.
