Ice Golf Classic Attracts Golfers

Snow and ice may seem like a golfers nightmare, but today it was something of a golfer's dream. St. Mark's Community Center held it's 10th annual Ice Golf Classic in East Dubuque, Illinois today.

The Ice Golf Classic consisted of an 18 hole golf course made of snow, ice and Christmas trees. This year, about 150 golfers participated in the Ice classic. Golfers used a yellow tennis ball instead of a traditional golf ball, in order to see exactly where their golf ball landed on the snowy course.

Last year, the tournament was canceled due to an unusually warm winter. "With last years event being canceled because of the warmer temperatures , we did see a little bit of a hit on registrations. I think a lot of people were unsure weather or not we would be holding the event." said Troy Rabbett, Development and Marketing Director for St. Mark Community Center.

This year's classic raised $12,000 which will go towards programs and services at St. Mark Community Center in Dubuque.
