U of I sexual harassment audit findings

Continuing coverage on a sexual harassment scandal at the University of Iowa.

The Board of Regents released the findings of an internal audit of the University of Iowa Athletics Department Wednesday.

The audit followed allegations that former Athletic Advisor Peter Gray touched students in an inappropriate way, traded football tickets for naked photos and made sexually explicit comments.

Gray resigned last November.

The audit determined that university officials followed procedures for reporting and submitting their findings.

But it also found room for improvement.

The audit says the U of I needs to make sure all employees receive an annual performance review and complete sexual harassment training.

"There will be times when things slip and that's the time when we have to go in and make sure that not only are we enforcing our own policies but making sure everyone understands their responsibilities when it comes to those policies. So we have some work to do," said U of I President Sally Mason.

The Regents are requesting that Mason give a progress report on sexual harassment training compliance in April.
