MINNEAPOLIS (KWWL) -
Austin Hollis hit a 3 with just over 10 seconds remaining that turned out to be the difference as #23 Minnesota held on to beat Iowa 62-59 on Sunday.
The Gophers trailed 59-57 when Hollis hit the shot from the corner on an inbounds play. Iowa turned the ball over on the ensuing possession, and following a couple of Minnesota free throws Hawkeye freshman Mike Gesell was off the mark on a shot that could have forced overtime.
Gesell led the Iowa effort with 11 points. Aaron White and Zach McCabe each added 10 for Iowa (14-8, 3-6 Big Ten).
The loss dropped the Hawkeyes to 9th in the Big Ten.
