Marion man arrested after chase in Linn County

A Marion man faces charges after a routine traffic stop turned into a high speed chase in Linn County.

It started just after 8:00 p.m. Saturday when a Linn County Sheriff's deputy attempted to stop a truck on highway 13, near Linn air avenue in Marion.

The chase ended on Mount Vernon Road near Forrest Drive Southeast when the driver, 20-year-old Andrew Steepleton of Marion, hit a jeep driven by 26-year-old Courtney Moore. Moore and a passenger, 28-year-old David Hannen of Alburnett, were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Hannen's four-year-old daughter was also in the jeep but not injured.

Steepleton ran from the scene, but then turned himself in at the Linn County Sheriff's Department. He faces several charges.

The chase remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Department. The crash is being investigated by the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
