Cedar Rapids man makes a plea deal in stabbing

A 33-year-old Cedar Rapids man has been found guilty of lesser charges in the stabbing of his former girlfriend.

Officials say that Shaheed Pendleton was originally charged with attempted murder and related charges.

On Tuesday, a Linn County jury convicted him of willful injury, assault with intent and other charges. Pendleton faces up to 12 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Pendleton stabbed his ex-girlfriend 16 times in October of 2011 after she went out on a porch and talked to two men.
