JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL) -

Hundreds are petitioning in an attempt to keep a Johnson County transportation service from disappearing.

SEATS Paratransit Service may be in jeopardy.

The service for the elderly and disabled provides door-to-door service for its riders.

County officials say they can no longer afford to pay Iowa City and Coralville's portion of the seats program due to rising costs.

A local petition to keep the service has been circulating, and some petitioners are organizing a protest in front of the Iowa City Court House on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
