Lawmakers discuss registered sex offenders living in adult care facilities

State lawmakers are trying to figure out what to do with registered sex offenders living in adult care facilities.

Two years ago, a sex offender attacked a woman while both he and the victim were patients at an assisted living facility.

Lawmakers are looking at a plan which would allow private nursing and assisted living facilities to ban sex offenders.

Opponents say the idea would force the state, and therefore, taxpayers, to care for sex offenders.

Lawmakers are also trying to decide who should be notified when a sex offender moves into an assisted living facility.
