Independence woman pleads guilty to child endangerment charges

BUCHANAN COUNTY (KWWL) -

An Independence woman has pleaded guilty to child endangerment charges.

The Buchanan County Attorney's Office says Erika Coleman left a 13-year-old and 5-year-old alone in August of 2012.

This was after the Department of Human Services advised the two not be together without adult supervision in 2011. DHS says there were concerns the 13-year-old would sexually abuse the 5-year-old.

Coleman was given a suspended 2-year prison sentenced and was placed on probation.

She is also not allowed contact with the 5-year-old victim for five years.
