Scheel commits to Iowa

The Iowa football team once again struck gold in the Cedar Valley.  For the second time in 8 days, one of the areas top stars committed to the Hawkeyes for the 2014 season.

Union quarterback Jay Scheel followed the lead of Cedar Falls offensive lineman Ross Pierschbacher in choosing Iowa.  Scheel informed head coach Kirk Ferentz prior to junior day at Iowa on Sunday.

Last season, Scheel tallied the 7th most rushing yards in class 3A despite playing the quarterback position.  His 10.2 yards per carry ranked second overall.

Interest in the Union stand-out spiked after he took over the reigns his sophomore season and led the Knights to their first ever state championship.

Scheel chose Iowa over offers from Iowa State, Nebraska, and Minnesota.
