Sandy Relief Vehicle Returns Home to Waterloo

An area Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle is back in Waterloo for the first time since the onset of Hurricane Sandy. The emergency vehicle was sent to the coast filled with food, water, blankets and other supplies in October.

The Hawkeye Chapter of the Red Cross was initially sent to New Jersey but only made it to Baltimore, Maryland, before the storm hit. They were then sent to New York City, where they delivered crucial supplies.

The volunteers returned months ago, but the vehicle stayed in New York. It traveled 1800 miles in trips around New York before it was shipped by train back to Iowa.
