C.F. lineman Pierschbacher commits to Iowa

Ross Pierschbacher woke up Saturday knowing where he wanted to play college football.  He says he's excited to continue his career at Iowa, but perhaps not as excited as Hawkeye football coach Kirk Ferentz.

"I think he said that's fantastic about 20 to 30 times, so he was definitely ecstatic," said Pierschbacher.

The Cedar Falls lineman has one more season left in high school and is considered one of the state's top 2 recruits in the 2014 class.  He chose Iowa over in-state rival Iowa State as well as high profile programs Notre Dame, Nebraska, and Oklahoma.

Pierschbacher said having a chance to continue to play with teammate Ike Boettger and former Tiger Barkley also influenced his decision.

"Knowing I'll have Ike down there with me, Barkley, and a couple other of my friends definitely made it easier."

Pierschbacher was expected by many to choose to attend Notre Dame, however he said Brian Kelly's decision to interview with the Philadelphia Eagles may have had a slight affect on his interest in the Irish.
