Tri-County Drug Task Force: More than $1 million in drugs seized in 2012


More than $1 million worth of drugs were taken off the streets last year, according to a report released by the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force on Thursday.

According to Captain Tim Pillack, the task force seized more than 29,000 grams of high-grade marijuana, 43,000 grams of marijuana, 1,700 grams of ICE, 108 grams of meth, 364 grams of cocaine and 244 grams of crack cocaine in 2012

The estimated street value of all the drugs is $1,069,101.

They also made 227 total arrests, seized 89 weapons, seized $258,020 in cash and dismantled and neutralized 78 meth labs and dump sites.

The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force is made up of members from the Black Hawk County Attorney's Office, the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office, the Cedar Falls Police Department and the Waterloo Police Department.

They receive additional support from the Iowa National Guard, the Iowa Department of Narcotic Enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bremer County Sheriff's Office, the Evansdale Police Department, the Hudson Police Department, the La Porte City Police Department, the University of Northern Iowa Public Safety Department and the Waverly Police Department.
