Black Hawk County announces 2012 Deputy of the Year

Black Hawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson has announced that Deputy George Wright was named the 2012 Deputy of the Year.

Sheriff Thompson says Deputy Wright received the award at the Black Hawk County Law Enforcement Association's Christmas party.

Wright began his career on February 3, 1992, and is currently assigned to the jail division as a senior deputy on first shift.

"Deputy Wright has distinguished himself through his positive attitude… always upbeat and energetic," said Sheriff Tony Thompson in a written statement. "He has been able to take his 20 years of experience and leverage it into sound decision making and clear advice and counsel to his subordinate peers."

Deputy Wright was nominated by the administrative staff, the jail division and received a recommendation from Sheriff Thompson.
