ANAMOSA (KWWL) -

The Anamosa Community School District superintendent says a small fire caused the evacuation of the high school on Wednesday afternoon.

Superintendent Brian Ney says a small fire started on a heater in a math classroom at about 11:50 a.m.

Ney says no students were in the classroom at the time, but the school was evacuated and the fire department contacted.

According to Ney, staff members were able to put out the fire.

Students were allowed back in the building at about 1:00 p.m. after air quality tests showed it was safe for them to return.
